November is the month to recognize for what one is thankful.
What am I thankful for? A husband who sent flowers to the house today for my birthday while he's away at work. A man who's always looking for ways to make me happy. Someone who always puts his family at the top of his priority list. Always ensuring we are taken of physically, financially, & mentally. Not any man can handle a woman like me, so I'm thankful that he knows exactly how to make me smile & is always surprising me. A father to our two girls, one who isn't biologically his. A dad who stepped up & took on a two year old little girl (who is now five) as his own. Always treating me & his daughters very well.
I'm thankful for two happy, healthy little girls. I've been lucky enough to not have to endure any hardship with them. Even though they can drive me up the wall, they are also my world. I cannot bear the thought of anything happening to them. In one day I can understand why some animals eat their young, but also in that same day, I understand why you should never mess with a mother bear's cubs. Never make a mama mad, don't mess with her children.
I'm thankful for the roof over my head. I love my house. I love that it's mine & that I have no one to answer to for it.
I'm thankful to have three vehicles we call ours. They aren't the prettiest & most certainly not the newest. But my (mail) trucks & my husband's are paid off. That's a great feeling!
I'm very thankful for my own health. I'm relatively healthy. I don't get sick very often. Rarely, have I ever had to schedule a Dr. appointment. I've only had one health scare. Three precancerous lesions (CIN II & CIN III), but thankfully the way life works out, they were caught when I became pregnant with Jovi. They were removed three months after she was born. I'm thankful for Medicaid (yeah that's right, I said it). If it wasn't for that extended insurance, those lesions may have been on my cervix a little longer & may have become cancer. I'm thankful that my accidental pregnancy opened my eyes that maybe some things really do happen for a reason.. Maybe not everything, but some things.
I'm thankful for all the people in my life. The ones who are there for me. The ones that can make me laugh. The friends that will always be my friends no matter the time between visits, you know who are. I'm thankful for my family. We may not have as many get togethers as I'd like. But I'm glad to have a family that sticks together through the chaos of life & even with our fighting here & there. And that no one holds grudges against each other.
I'm thankful for a strong mother who knows how to use her voice. A mother who has a no nonsense policy. I'm thankful for a hardworking father who set the bar high for any man entering my life. I'm thankful for two parents who have been there for me always. Especially those hard times in life.
I'm thankful for a helpful grandmother. Someone who has taken on the role of caring for my children while I work during the week days. Without her, I'd be lost looking for babysitters & a daycare to work with my scattered schedule. Another woman who has set the precedent high of what a woman can do. I'm thankful to have an ex-in-law family that I can still talk to & share what's happening in my life with. That my daughter's grandparents on her dad's side of the family are still very involved with her, also that her aunts & uncles still care.
I'm thankful for a job I like.
I'm thankful for anyone who realizes that life is about people, not things. Life is about surrounding yourself with those who bring you up, not bring you down. Those who know how to build & keep a family together, happily.
I'm thankful for those who fight the good fight to ensure we all can live safely & have the freedoms we do.
I'm thankful for the activists in life, those who live to inspire. Those who spread awareness against all that is wrong & help make the world a better place.
I'm sure I'm missing many "I'm thankful" points. But these are the ones that stick out to me at the moment. I'm mostly thankful just to be alive & living the life I live with my family. I think about this often, however, not only in November. When life is good, we have to take note, no matter the time of year. Today is also my birthday (November 10) So I'm especially thankful for anyone who took any small amount of time out of their day to wish me a happy birthday. Something so small means so much. I have much appreciation for every positive force in my life.
